Leading a science-based land trust I believe to be successful we have to use strong science as well as sound business practices. Protecting land in perpetuity relies on making decisions, big and small, every day. I am interested in serving on the Terrafirma Members Committee as a way to help our community of land trusts keep perpetuity a reality.
I am not an attorney and don’t pretend to be one. I don’t see this responsibility as one requiring a legal background but rather needing experience growing a non-profit avoiding pitfalls along the way. We need Terrafirma to be there when we need it. I’m a strong advocate for neighboring land trusts to join and give advice from time to time on various business practices helping keep our community resilient. Many of us got into our careers based on passion for conservation but over time I think we all realize we its serious business with big promises. I hope if I am chosen for the Members Committee I can play a small role in keeping those promises.
